Canik Pistols – Brief History
Canik is a Turkish firearms manufacturer whose roots date to 1998, when it was established in Samsun, Türkiye. The company initially focused on precision manufacturing for the aerospace and defence industries before expanding its firearms production.
Canik became internationally recognised for its TP-series semi-automatic pistols, particularly the TP9, which helped establish the brand in military, law-enforcement, competition and civilian markets. Its pistols became known for combining modern striker-fired designs, practical features and competitive pricing.
The company later expanded its range with models such as the METE and RIVAL series, with the latter aimed strongly at the competitive shooting market. Canik firearms are now distributed internationally and the brand has developed into one of Türkiye’s best-known handgun manufacturers.
